Wills & Bequests

If helping animals is important to you, consider a bequest to Animal Justice Canada in your will. It’s one of the most effective ways to ensure that your voice will continue to be heard for years to come.

If you plan to include Animal Justice Canada in your will, the correct legal name for the organization is ‘Animal Justice Canada’ and our head office is located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Below is some suggested wording that you can use in your will:

For a Fixed Amount:

“I will give to Animal Justice Canada of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the sum of $ ____________ to be used in such a manner as the Board of Directors of Animal Justice Canada shall, at its discretion, determine.”

For a Percentage of the Estate:

“I will give to Animal Justice Canada of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, ________% of my estate to be used in such a manner as the Board of Directors of Animal Justice Canada shall, at its discretion, determine.”

For the Residue of the Estate:

“I will give to Animal Justice Canada of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the rest and residue of my estate to be used in such a manner as the Board of Directors of Animal Justice Canada shall, at its discretion, determine.”

Thank you for considering Animal Justice Canada for inclusion in your will. If you’d like additional information, please contact us at info@animaljustice.ca.

Name Animal Justice Canada as a Beneficiary of your RRSP or RRIF

Donors can make charitable gifts by naming a charity as a beneficiary of an insurance policy, RRSP or RRIF. The donor does not have to pass these assets through their estates when they gift them to a charity to be eligible to receive the tax receipt in the year of death.

Invest in a Charitable Gift Annuity

A charitable gift annuity is a financial planning tool that can maintain and even enhance your after-tax income while providing substantial financial aid to Animal Justice Canada. An annuity is very secure, guaranteeing your rate of return and thereby, the amount of your annual payments, for life. This is an excellent vehicle for donors who are 70 years or older and can afford to invest at least $10,000.

Establish a Charitable Remainder Trust

This gift opportunity allows you to give cash or assets during your lifetime while enjoying the income from that asset for the remainder of your life. Throughout your lifetime you will receive income from this living trust, but upon your death, the “remainder” will pass directly to Animal Justice Canada as the named beneficiary. This type of gift is most suitable for those aged 70 plus, who are able to invest $100,000 or more in the trust.

Workplace Giving

Many companies have established workplace giving programs involving a payroll deduction plan (where a small donation is automatically deducted from each paycheque), a matching gift program (where the business matches the employee’s donation) or special event fundraising initiatives.

Find out if your business has an organized giving program and join in to support the work of Animal Justice Canada. If your business doesn’t have a giving program, think about starting one.

In-Kind Giving

In-kind giving is a contribution of goods. Examples, include, but are not limited to, donations of new and surplus inventory, artwork and any other non-cash product. Donors are eligible to receive a gifts-in-kind tax receipt for the fair market value of the goods.

If you are interested in making an in-kind gift, please contact Animal Justice Canada at info@animaljustice.ca.

Donate Your Old Car

Participate in Cars for Charity by donating your old vehicle to Animal Justice Canada through the Standard Auto Wreckers Vehicle Donation Program.

In addition to receiving a tax receipt for your donation, you’ll be helping to clean up the environment. Older, less efficient cars are major contributors to air pollution and landfill problems in Canada. The vehicle donation program ensures proper recycling of these vehicles.

If you have an end-of-life vehicle that you would like to donate with proceeds going to Animal Justice Canada visit: http://www.charitycar.ca/lawyers-for-animal-welfare-.html.

Your vehicle will be sold for parts recycling or to a dealer depending on the condition and location. The net proceeds will be remitted to Animal Justice Canada and we will send you a tax receipt.
