The Indian Act governs Indian status, bands, and reserves with respect to Canadian Aboriginal persons. The Act empowers the Governor in Council to make regulations applicable on reserve regarding fur-bearing animals, fish, and game, the taxation, control and destruction of dogs, and the protection of sheep.
